single phase pole mounted transformers

single phase pole mounted transformers are usually used in rural areas where three phase power may not be required.  These Transformers reduce the voltage from the line voltage 11kV to a single phase voltage usually 230V.The secondary of the Pole mounted Distribution is usually connected between the two phases of a MV line.  The secondary voltage is a single phase voltage which is fed to the house.  These transformers (includ 50 kva pole mount transformer)can be easily installed and do not require extensive mounting Structures.Pole mounted Transformers come in sizes up to 500 kVA.These transformers have a fuse to protect against faults inside the transformer.  They are also equipped with an interrupting device.  These Transformers are tested to withstand the impulse of lightning. In the US, The secondary of these transformers has a centre tapping and therefore has three terminals. The voltage between the end terminal and the centre tapping will provide 120V while the voltage between two end terminals will be 220 volts. These Single Phase Pole Mounted transformers can also be used to provide three phase LV supply.

About power transformer for you

A power transformer (50kva power transformer)is a passive electromagnetic device that transfers energy from one circuit to another circuit by means of inductive coupling. Power transformers differ from other transformer types in that they are designed to comply with regulatory requirements for mains power interfacing, working at mains voltages and relatively high currents. The most important specification of a power transformer is its primary to secondary transformer galvanic isolation, which is usually specified in kV. This is a fundamental safety aspect in protecting humans from potentially lethal earth fault conditions.Dry power transformers typically have a single primary (mains side) winding and one or more secondary windings. The secondary winding may be tapped at different points to generate multiple voltage outputs. A power transformer operates according to Faradays Law of Induction. A transformer’s secondary voltage is equal to the negative rate of change of the magnetic flux enclosing the circuit. The magnetic flux enclosing the secondary circuit is caused by the AC flowing in the primary winding. This AC generates a changing flux that couples through a common core into the secondary winding. Voltage ratio is equivalent to the winding turn ratio. Transformers are extremely efficient when operating within their design specifications. Core type is an important consideration. Typical power transformer supplies include: laminated core, semi-toroidal and toroidal. Laminations can be important as they help prevent eddy currents flowing in the core that cause loss of efficiency. Maximum output current is specified at the point where the core is saturated or the windings current rating is exceeded. There are many mounting options including: chassis mount, DIN rail, wall mount and PCB mount. Terminations can be solder lugs, wire leads and terminal blocks. Galvanic isolation is typically rated between 1.5kV and 5kV. Power transformers are found in any application that requires mains power. They are also used as 1:1 isolating transformers for equipment safety. 120-240V transformers are also available for conversion between mains standards.

Why Do I Care About Power Transformers?

Do you care about the light in your home? That you continue to have your food refrigerated, and that your family stays happy and healthy? Power transformers help to regulate power to your home, meaning they’re not only necessary, they’re an important part of the complicated process in which our society uses electricity. The oil immersed power transformer receives huge amounts of electricity, at 115,000 or 46,000 volts, which is way too much to have in any one home. Think of the power transformer as the instrument that’s handling all of the power for your entire neighborhood. From there, the power transformer distributes smaller amounts of electricity to the distribution transformer, and that transformer distributes that electricity to various homes, depending on their need. In that way, power transformers are kind of like the boss of distribution transformers: they provide all of the energy that the distribution transformers need to succeed.
